A FILIPINO NOVEL ABOUT BROTHERHOOD.
In this fast changing world, nowadays you can never determine if who the right people to trust and treat as your real friends. But, your family is your greatest friends, who can stick to you forever. A family that can give back the things that you’ve given to your friends, they can understand you and are the first people who could aid your painful heart on your problems.
                A fate tested their brotherhood. In a story of Pedro and Juan, they were totally orphaned but their parents died without making a will. Then, Pedro as the elder son decided to take the whole property for himself and gave his younger brother a share of a dry barren land.
                Pedro’s field grew greener and flourishing while Juan’s lived near starvation because he got practically nothing out of his barren land. If Pedro becomes unfair and hard towards his younger brother, he was on the contrary, extremely kind, generous and obedient to his peers. He always gives everything and he even gave out his own to meet their desires and wishes. Now Pedro will be considered as a good-hearted and thoughtful to his friend, but not for his poor brother.  
                Pedro has a loving wife who is so sensible towards his behaviour, her name is Inday Badiday. She always asks his husband if why he is so kinder to his friends and she firmly stated that why Pedro le his brother suffer and she told him to stop it. But, he said that Juan is old enough so he has the right to deal with him in that way. He also said that “let him stand on his own feet. “ Inday answered back that “he is your Brother, real brother, you should be fair with him and in times of emergency he’s is the one who can help you instantly. And look at to your pals!” then, Pedro said that “My friends are excellent people who are entirely devoted to me, and I like to pay back the civility and generosity they have showed to me.”
                Pedro did not an ear to the argument of his wife, which he thought of an erroneous. Suddenly, Pedro came home from his work and he found his wife Inday at the corner in tears. She is trembling and slowly utter that a beggar came in and stole some of their clothes. Then, she ran after him with a bamboo stick and rushed him with struck. Then, he died immediately. She wrapped him up and she said that she doesn’t know what to do.
Pedro was frightened, because his wife was hallucinating. They both don’t know what to do; it came in to their minds that they might be both imprisoned so Pedro thought of remedies, who are his friends, so he decided to quickly call all of his devoted friends to ask help and solicit some advice. Yet, he was wrong the people whom he whole heartedly trusts have different alibis. His wife decided to go fetch his brother-in-law nearby their house to ask help. Juan immediately rescued them.
When they are rushing to their house, it was dawn then and they came back, but what they see all of Pedro’s friends who were there and these are the people who reported him to policemen for him to be punished. Each one of them pointed an accusing finger at Pedro and they all said that they will attest to the authority that Pedro is Guilty. The policemen thought that the friends of Pedro were honest citizens who only obey the voice of their conscience, to take justice be done. But, the policemen were shocked when they knew that Inday Badiday just made up the whole story for Pedro to know if who his Real friends are.
                It’s indeed true that you can never measure your trusted friends; you can never tell if you intrinsically know them within. Pedro’s joy couldn’t be described as he fell sobbing in the arms of his younger brother while his friends stood up dumbfounded and crestfallen. How could they look to Pedro in the face again?
